I really like this game, and am excited about the major new update. I just updated the game for 1.8.2 version, and I keep getting this code error which forces me to abort my game. I get to play one turn, then when I wait for my second turn I get this.
Gotta add a difficulty where the AI doesn't just completely steamroll me. If I'm on a map with more than one neutral city the AI moves WAY faster than me and it devolves into a slow game of "how long can I run back and forth desperately trying to keep a town".
You can set your city to start at a higher level if you want. I think this also affects the AI towns as well, but I find it's really good for a faster start.
Played the demo and became very interested in the game! I do wish there was some right click functionality to exit some dialogs instead of hitting "exit", but this seems like a very neat game, and I hope it continues being developed!

How do you enable mods? I see the mods folder, I see mods settings.txt.. not finding the connection. "start game with 1 of each modded artifact" '0' on the next line - should that be '1'?
any mods that are in the folders in the mods section currently are automatically enabled. future versions will have the option to turn on/off mods in the menu.
Wow is this game great!!! I'm an oldschool HoMM addict (2 is the best! 3 is close second!) and I'm also a supporter of the FHeroes2 project. So boy have I got to say that this game scratches all the right itches in all the right places. It strikes me as a lightweight pixelated mashup of HoMM 2/3 and Dominions, and I mean that as nothing short of high praise. I love it, and I can't wait to buy it again on Steam!
I'm not sure what the issue might be. Lots of others are playing v1.8.2 without issue (also some normal bugs, of course). Maybe the security issue stems from elsewhere on your system? Or is a false flag
look, I hate to tell you this, but Norton is a terrible AV program. most of the freeware ones even are way better. This is one of the reasons... Norton false flags ANY program that has the ability to modify an executable file. which many, many do, btw. you have to add the exe file for Hero's Hour to your exception list, or just turn off norton before you play the game. there is no virus in this game.
Why does it always heat up my laptop so much, I don´t remember doing it in the beginning, and I got a MSI which is not bad at all. So I would appreciate if you could give me advise with the setings? idk
Made this account to buy the game. And I am thoroughly surprised and happy with the purchase. Glad to see an update today( Dec. 17th) I love all the factions, although I do hope to see more or more units assigned to the current ones. Keep it coming!
I signed up here just to get this game. It's got that certain something that I can just sit down and have fun. It's like time travel. There's so much here that I could spend years playing and still have fun. The one thing I want really bad though is a feudal Japanese faction. Maybe an expansion pack? Fighting demons and the undead as a samurai would be too cool. Thanks for the great game, bro you're a fkin' legend! Will buy on Steam too.
Another small point would be when looking at the Lexicon, specifically when looking at heroes, you can't see what their skills do, just what skill they learn. Being able to check what each skill does would be nice since some skills that give units for instance vary from hero to hero like Mastery for instance which gives different units.
Also, while I get that you're not supposed to hire 50 heroes, the fact that you can get duplicates is nice but maybe have either a wider pool or a cycle that allows you to get a chance to get all the different heroes at least once would be nice. Here for instance, I got Ril Kani more than three times and not a single Uptala which is the hero I was trying to get and that's with a good amount of tries that would've exhausted a regular hero pool.
I've left the itch page here alone for a while, and sorry about that! I've been hard at work and I'm hoping to be able to push v 1.8 this weekend, which will be the last big content push - and probably the largest patch the game has ever seen. After that, things will continue to run slowly up until the v2 release (aka finally being done enough for steam). Big game, lots of issues to fix. Expect an update and a devlog, maybe before the end of the weekend!
Awesome game, you may want to change the Naval battle preparation vs neutral creatures though as the way the preview presents it it looks like your forces will fight the neutral creatures arriving from the south while in battle they actually come from the easts which poses some positioning problems.
The same can be said about Naval battles against other players in a way.
The simplest thing would be to draw a black line between the two with an arrow indicating where the enemy comes from (Example below).
Also it might be me but I have a hard time moving the camera around especially when creatures get pushed into corners which makes it very difficult to tell what's happening, not to mention sometimes when trying to move the camera around I'll sometimes press the wrong button namely 'Flee' when looking at the bottom of the screen which is a big problem since it forces a defeat.
I LOVE THIS GAME! That being said I am having a lot of overflow errors in my larger games, which is unfortunately the way I play strategy games. I like to run late game strategies to get the most insane army I can. I can't do that with this game otherwise it crashes. It may just be the decay faction, I don't know. Keep up the good work, this is an excellent concept, that you have executed well. It's like an emerald that just needs a LITTLE bit more polishing. Worth $30 in my opinion, which is what I gave you, my friends will all hear good things from me :)
I have never been more excited to press "Start battle" in a strategy game! I just love seeing how that one unit explodes into a whole bunch of em and start dancing and jumping.
Regrettably, it's code doesn't work well at all when using larger maps or multiple opponents, taking incredibly long time loading and lags.
I really enjoy this game! just played the free demo, but I am defenitely buying the full game! I was just wondering, will the game appear on steam anytime soon? i dont really wanna wait months to play the full version, but would also prefer it on steam. Should I buy it on here, or will it be on steam soon? Buying this labour of love regardless!
p.s. It would be great to have some additional descriptions with the maps. For example, sometimes I wanna play a map without sea or portals, a Pangea kind of map, but i don't know which maps generate that way. Is there a way to see that?
love this concept. some parts are a little clunky or lacking in tooltip info. the tutorial is a trial by fire which is fine but still misses a few things i think. I am a filthy casual but i find the normal difficulty to be a bit tough although i probably just have a trash strat. overall i look forward to seeing this evolve! Where can i leave more detailed suggestions?
I'm confused about whether online multiplayer is supported, or whether it's only available through Steam's Play Together. If so, how are battles between players resolved?
Are the skill trees final? Kind of... confused by some. Like, the water faction tidal getting a pyromancer hero seems odd. Dwarfs being an earth faction and getting two ice themed units? Both their racial passives are practically identical and very few of their heroe scan even touch terramancy. Seems like they were all done at random

So, Hero's Hour v 1.8 is now out, as is v1.8.1 and v1.8.2. Its a pretty monumental update, you should check out the development log to see what's new!

Even less important but there aren't any achievements for beating a normal or harder game as Tide or Earthen
Another small point would be when looking at the Lexicon, specifically when looking at heroes, you can't see what their skills do, just what skill they learn. This has more to do with the Random generation but sometimes the map generator will place inaccessible structures like this one.

Dev announced the steam release will be in early 2022 on Twitter - that's also likely when we're getting v1.8

hotseat players on the same team can't win, they can be the only two players left but can't fight each other so the game never ends
